SSSNNE representatives have met recently with NHAOT about the update of the SSSNNE Publication no. 5. A minor text edit was requested and made (the last sentence on page 6), with no change to the method of assigning Hydrologic Soil Index. This is the final draft of Publication no. 5 for members to review before the summer meeting.

If SSSNNE votes to adopt the updated Publication no. 5 on 12 September, that can be the ‘publication date’ which NH-AOT needs for their upcoming rule changes. When NH-AOT new rules take effect, projected to be between December 2025 & January 2026, soil scientists will start using the HSI in their soil map reports.
